The following statement was released by AT&T in answer to the Independent’s questions about door-to-door sales.
The newspaper has had several complaints about “fake” AT&T salesmen going door to door. One frightened resident reported police told her AT&T doesn’t go door to door and she said she called AT&T who said the same thing.
AT&T statement
Yes, AT&T does use door-to-door sales agents to see if people are interested in our popular U-verse service when it’s available in their neighborhood. Our authorized door-to-door agents:
1. Wear a visible badge that displays the vendor company name listing them as an “Authorized Solution Provider.” This is displayed in close proximity to AT&T’s logo.
2. Carry a letter from the AT&T local market manager, which is made available upon request from the resident. The letter confirms that the agent is working on behalf of our campaign, their vendor company name and it includes contact information for the AT&T local market manager.
3. Have general AT&T sales collateral.
A consumer who has questions about an AT&T Door-to-Door agent at their door can ask for identification, call our offices at 800-288-2020 to confirm, or simply not answer the door.

I just wish they would observe ‘no soliciting’ signs.
AT&T does contract with companies to solicit their services door to door. I have a “NO SOLICITORS” sign posted at my door, but these solicitors representing AT&T regularly ignore the sign. I have complained directly to AT&T with no results.
I suggest anyone fed up with AT&T cancel their service, and sign up with one of their competitors, and resolve to NEVER do business with AT&T again, as I have done. This may be the only way they’ll get the message, and do something to rectify the situation.
I AM DEVISTATED, BECAUSE I ALLOWED A YOUNG MAN WHO REPRESENTED AT&T TO USE MY BATHROOM AND I BELIEVE HE STOLE A VALUABLE RING. I HAVE FILED A POLICE REPORT.
Stop sending people who are very pushy to my home to sell me something I don’t want please
I wish you would observe the muscle listing sign also. There is zero chance I will do business with any company that comes to my door.
I noticed some pretty scroungy individuals coming to the door and knocking instead of using the door bell next to the door. Non shaved, dirty looking clothes. Young boys and Spectrum has the sane jubd if thing happening. So Bad.
They are back at it again, I have a sign above the doorbell that is very clearly marked for no solicitation.
I had 4 AT&T(?) representives come to my door offering a Apple 16 and $30 per month fee for service. I foolishly (sucker born every day) signed up…into a nightmare. They sent me a text saying I owed them an additional $999.00 for back charges. I am contacting an attorney and reporting them to the Federal Trade Commission.
Sales representatives that are so empty headed that when you tell them WITH A BABY IN YOUR HANDS AND CAR STARTED
that you are running late for your doctors appointment and they respond with “oh … no worries I guess, just do what you were doing and we will talk in the mean time” yeah okay loser. Told them to get off the property and not to return. Can’t read a room much huh? Clearly you’re not a good service if you have to harass people at their homes, Kroger, and Target.
Two men arrived in black ATT shirts , shorts, yellow jacket amd no vehicle nearby and knocked on my door at 630pm . Trying to sell that ATT and said could give 30% discount and that other company increasing rates and said that ATT bought verizon and another company to try to get us to change over services. Told them i wasnt interested. . They took pictures of my address and returned at 830pm (dark outside) and knocked on door again. They took pictures thru my Windows. THEN I didn’t answer and they went to my mailbox and took pics but i couldn’t tell if they were getting mail out. The police just told them to leave and go home. Hope we dont have identity theft. Never saw them drive vehicle. Coming at dark in this neighborhood where the elderly are is very scary for them knocking on doors at night plus a very dangerous area. ATT needs to give them ATT vehicles for marketing walking with no vehicle looks strange and sketchy. . !
Especially walking around in the dark knocking on folks doors!
We think they are scammers.
